The Walk above will take you about one hour to complete but offers you an insight into both the old and new of Uley the numbers on the map allows you to know what place of intrest you are passing.

The walk starts at the old work house(1) which is on the edge of Uley towards coaley this was used when the mills excisted in the area, the next place that we come to is that of the Uley Bower (2) the oldest house in this walk whist in this area we can also see the Union Chaple (3) built in 1790 and closed in 1972 to become a house, the next building that we come across is that of the Courts (4). Moving up the hill a little more we come across Shears (5) once a public house that sold beer from the Uley Brewery (7) as we walk along a little further we see a road that branches off to the left just as the road bends, at the end of this road is a building called the Baldstocks(6)
once there were a few of these but today only one cottage remains.As we continue down the hill and onto the B4066 we across two large house the first being the Weavers (8) the second Peopance (9), now turning to the leftwe start to walk back down the street towards Dursley where we come across three more rather old houses the gables, the reading room (11) and Court House (10). In order to arrive at the next place we have to walksomedistance, after a while we arrive at a place near the kings head (14)another old public house to the side of this building are two houses the old Smithy (13) and Montpellier house (12) continuing down the street we come to the corner and as we look to the right we see a bus stop, this is where the second sheers(15) was situated but has now been demolished behind this down a slope we come across an area where the farmers in the area came to dip there sheep(16). walking back up the hill we arrive at a cross roads to the left is where the Turnpike stood.

crossing the road we start to walk up the hill and also to the left we come across a buolding called coombe house (18) a nice looking queen Anne building. Next to this is where Jeens Mill (20) stood, opposite side of the road is the Greenbank (19)as we continue up the road we come back to where we started this short walk.
